The eight “Mayors for Drinkable Meuse” gathering took place on May 29, 2026, in Maastricht, The Netherlands.
In the morning, Arnold Jansen and Michel Smits (Limburg Water Board), Maarten van der Ploeg (RIWA Maas), and Bernard De Potter (Flemish Environment Agency) shared their insights, expertly facilitated by moderator Simone van Trier. Thank you all for your inspiring words. You can find Mr. De Potter’s presentation here.
The afternoon excursions, led by guides Ron Werné, Gilbert Soeters, Lysan Wolf, Gaby Bollen, Peter Alblas, Gid van Schijndel, and Serve Minis, were preceded by a touching speech by Reinier Hoon at a beautiful, picturesque spot along the Jeker.
Reinier Hoon’s beautiful words can be found on the Jeker page. Thanks to the guides and to Reinier for a special afternoon on our Meuse Day.
Many thanks to the host municipality of Maastricht, Mayor Hillenaar, and Alderman Mackus for the warm welcome and the wonderful program, and to all participants, speakers, and guides.
